Dental Ceramics

Dental ceramics is a porcelain used to create bio-compatible crowns, bridges and veneers. Many incise dental CAD/CAM frameworks are made from partially sintered Zirconia. Unlike any other ceramic, Zirconia has a unique 'transformation toughening' mechanism. When a crack starts to form, it’s growth is impeded by a phase change in the material. This makes it an ideal choice for dental applications.

Zirconia is preferred as a bridge due to it being strong, durable, cosmetically appealing and very bio-compatible compared to metal. Zirconia is used for dental bridges, crowns and implants.

Due to its excellent strength, toughness, low wear rates and bio-inertness, Zirconia is finding increased application in medical implant devices.
